A Home For Pearl Squirrel
Solomon Raven series

by Amy Crane Johnson
Illustrated by Robb Mommaerts

This book is one of the Solomon Raven series, each exploring a different season. A Home For Pearl Squirrel is the fall offering. Pearl has built a new home from leaves, and she invites the other creatures to a party to celebrate.  She hopes everyone likes her wonderful home. She gathers berries, nuts, roots and mushrooms for the party.

The Deerheart family can't climb the tree to see Pearl's home; they prefer their own.  The other animals that come to the party can't climb the tree either.  There are Marilyn and her baby bunnies,  Maurice Skunk and Mason Beaver.  Mason thinks his underwater home is much better, but Pearl knows that she can't swim, so that would not do at all for her.

Solomon Raven, the wisest bird in the forest, explains to Pearl why everyone has a different kind of home that is best for them.

All of the animals' cute personalities show through in the full color, whimsical illustrations. The kids will be enchanted, and want to see them again and again.   A very entertaining habitat lesson for reading aloud at bedtime or family time.
