Hush, Baby Ghostling

by Andrea Beaty
Illustrated by Pascal Lemaitre

Mama is having trouble getting her little Baby Ghostling to fall asleep. So, like any parent, she sings her little one a lullaby. You'll be quick to notice, though, that this song turns traditional bedtime lullabies on their heads.

Filled with owls, bats and monsters, all things that will comfort Baby Ghostling, Mama Ghost's little ditty will achieve the desired affect. She croons, "Close your eyes and drift to sleep and dream of midnight skies. Of hisses, howls, and screeching owls. Of bats and banshee cries."

Soon Baby Ghostling falls asleep with pleasant thoughts of ghoulies and wild monsters dancing in her head.

With gentle humor and glowing illustrations in the hues of dawn (that's when ghosts head for bed!), this picture book turns upside down the normal bedtime rituals. It's silly but just the type of fare young children love.
