Maddie’s mother agrees to send her to Wolf Camp for two weeks. On the first day away, her mother
receives a letter from Maddie, who says that the place is weird. Then, on the second day, Maddie sends
another letter and says things are nice. For the rest of her stay, Maddie’s mother doesn’t receive any
more letters and figures that Maddie has gotten used to the camp and is having a great time.
When Maddie returns from camp, she is not the same little girl as when she left. She refuses to eat
anything other than meat, and growls at the dog while she chases an innocent squirrel. Another unusual
habit she picked up is that she howls at sirens.
What is behind Maddie’s strange behavior? Will she ever become the sweet girl her mother remembers?
