Danny the Dragon "Meets Jimmy"

by Tina Turbin
Illustrated by Aija Jasuna

Jimmy and his family are spending a day at the beach. Jimmy picks up a shell and hears something... It isn't the sound of waves, it's a real voice. All the way home Jimmy tries to get it to talk again, but it doesn't—until dinner time. Then out pop green legs followed by big red sneakers and the rest of a dragon. And so the fun begins! Danny may be a dragon, but he wears sneakers and a backpack just like kids. His coloring and small white wings give him a mythical appearance as well.

Danny the Dragon is friendly, well-spoken and has good manners. Jimmy has a lot of questions for Danny the Dragon. One is how do Danny and his mate Skipper get in the shell. (You'll have to read the book to find out.) Jimmy wants to know more about Danny and Skipper's adventures. At bedtime Danny and Skipper go back into the shell and promise to tell Jimmy more the next day—a promise to young readers of further adventures.

The book is a wonderful experience for both the adult reader and the child. The sentences are easy, the illustrations colorful, and the characters delightful. If the first book in the series is any indication, Danny the Dragon will quickly become a favored character in a popular series.

Danny the Dragon is also an audiobook and a DVD.

Half the profits of the Danny the Dragon Meets Jimmy DVD go to the Blossom Montessori School for the Deaf. It's a widescreen format with an interpreter for the deaf. Sounds are included for the hearing and add to the story. The interpreter stands next to the large pages and signs as the pages turn. A fun experience for all ages.

Profits for the audiobook Danny the Dragon, DREAMS are generously donated to the Celiac Disease Center at Columbia University Medical Center. The audiobook includes sound effects and bonus music.
