Jeannette Claus Saves Christmas

By Douglas Rees
Illustrated by Olivier Latyk

This is a cute story that puts a hilarious spin on the traditional notion that Santa and his reindeer always deliver the children’s gifts on Christmas Eve. Because Santa is very sick, he can’t make the annual journey so Jeannette volunteers to take over the delivery chores.

At first the reindeer cooperate but when their harness accidentally malfunctions, they jump at the opportunity to leave Jeannette behind with the job only half done.

What will she do? The enterprising girl comes up with a solution that not only assures the delivery of the rest of the toys but also shows the rambunctious reindeer that they aren’t that indispensible.

I won’t ruin the ending by telling you how Jeannette comes up with a solution to her problem, but it is both clever and funny. You’ll discover that this is a picture book that children will want to share with their friends and they’ll insist on reading it again and again.
