That Cat Can't Stay
by Thad Krasnesky
Illustrated by David Parkins
The poor dad in this whimsical picture book just doesn't like cats. They scratch him,
they make him sneeze, and they carry fleas. A cat simply isn't the pet for him. But the
clever mom knows Dad has a soft heart, and before he knows it, there are five cats making
themselves quite at home in his favorite chair.
So what's a dad to do? The lively rhyme and comic illustrations are sure to make readers
giggle, and the poor, kind-hearted dad certainly deserves the happy ending he gets. David
Parkins does a wonderful job of creating engaging expressions for both cats and people. I
am certain that any loving dad who ever tried to put his foot down will recognize himself
in the poor dad. And who knows? Maybe some of the dad's rhyming reasons for rejecting cats
will come in handy the next time someone brings home a cuddly kitten ...nope, probably not.
It's best to just embrace the fluff. |
