Harold B. Wigglebottom Learns About Bullies
By Howard Binkow
Poor Harold B. Wigglebottom has has two huge problems: the Snorton
twins, the biggest bullies in Harold’s school. Every day Harold
says he will be brave enough to tell his teacher. Every day his
fears get in his way. Harold tries his “run like the wind”
shoes to keep away from the bullies, but they catch him. Harold
tries his “invisible cloak,” but that doesn’t
keep him safe either.
Nothing
works, and the bullying grows worse with each passing day. When
Harold sees the twins bullying each other and fears one will hurt
the other, he knows what he has to do to save the day.
As
with all the Harold B. Wigglebottom books, the back page spread
extends the story - in this case by including tips on what to do
if you’re being bullied. Emphasized throughout is the idea
of how important it is to tell an adult if you are being bullied.
This is an excellent book to share with a young child.
