Ideal for young children, this board book pictures some basic holiday items like a Christmas tree, ornaments, candy canes, a snowman, a brightly wrapped gift and a sleigh, but it also offers textures toddlers can touch.

For example, there’s a soft, fuzzy brim on Santa’s hat, the holiday wreath has a satin bow, the stocking on the mantle is made of velvet and the gift box is covered with a red, smooth, foil paper.

There’s no text but rather just the single word that identifies each object. As you and your child practice word recognition, you can also make up different stories to go with each item, or keep it simple by just asking what he/she would like to find on Christmas morning in his/her stocking or under the tree.

“Christmas” would make an ideal gift for a household who has a child who is celebrating his or her first Christmas.
