This picture book for
youngsters two years of age and older follows a boy and his father
as they get up early in the morning to see the sunrise. They hop
into the dad’s jeep, and off they go.
Along the way others
join them and soon there are bunnies, a monkey, some dogs and a
few sheep crammed into the vehicle. “Squeeze in tight! The
jeep is full. Nearly too much weight to pull!” But on they
drive and they arrive just in time to see the sunrise on the mountaintop.
This rhymed text is
perfect for a youngster who is ready to assume some of the read
aloud chores himself. There’s repetition and easy sentence
structure that will encourage him to join in the re-telling of this
charming story.
