On a family outing at the beach, a little boy builds the perfect sandcastle.

Then a dragon moves in for a day of fun and mischief. The book works on two levels -- adults reading the rollicking text recognize immediately that a mischievous little boy with a big imagination is the real wild thing on the beach. The young listener to the story, on the other hand, will delight in just how much trouble one dragon can get into on a sunny afternoon. The wonderful bright illustrations bring their own depth of humor and character to the story, making it a true delight. There's so much going on with every page that even the youngest reader will return to the book over and over to stare into the magical world of one little boy and his new dragon friend.

And the quick nod to the If You Give A... books just adds to the fun.
