What is it that keeps you awake at night? In the adult world it
is anxiety related to money, work, kids, the house, and more, but
when we were children it was the thing lurking in the closet or
under the bed. It could have been the kid waiting for your lunch
money, having to take a test, or a loud, scary relative. "Is
a Worry Worrying You?" gives practical advice to help children
overcome some more common anxiety triggers.
The art and the story do an amusing little dance. First I read the
lines, then I searched the page to see how the children and pets
interacted with WORRY, chuckling all the while. There is a monster
on every page that is WORRY, skulking through the children's lives.
The creature is large and jubilant when the children worry, and
as they face and defeat their stress, it mopes and shrinks away.
The colors in the book are cool and help create a calm mood, even
when the 100 elephants run out of tea!
