A nicely designed collection of three, small, board books is brought together in this boxed set of stories featuring Little Chick and her Old-Auntie. In each story the title character most cope with some type of problem.

In "The Kite That Would Not Fly" Little Chick can't get her kite (really a large brown leaf) airborne, but Old-Auntie has a good idea that solves the dilemma.

"The Carrot That Would Not Grow" presents Little Chick with a vexing situation. She's planted some carrots but they are not growing as fast as she'd like them to do. What's the impatient chick going to do? Once again, Old-Auntie has a suggestion that will resolve the problem.

Finally, in "The Starry Night", Little Chick is frustrated because she can't reach high enough to touch her favorite star. Of course Old-Auntie will see a way to handle this situation too.

Although these palm-size books may seem too small, they really aren't. The text is large enough for mom or dad to read aloud and the illustrations are just right for a young child. Another benefit is that a two or three year old can easily hold the books and turn the pages.
