Twiga, a baby
giraffe, is very curious, so when he goes out with his mother she
must continually warn him to stay close because there are many dangers
on the dusty, dry plain.
A very curious
baby, Twiga loves to explore. As you page through this picture book
you’ll see the little giraffe’s encounters with a hyena,
some stinging ants, a crocodile, and a leopard. Fortunately, Twiga
isn’t harmed, although he does have a few close calls.
Curiously,
not all the animals Twiga meets are named so mom or dad will have
to supply the name if the child is not familiar with the creature.
Otherwise, this is a fun read with a lyrical text and nicely executed
illustrations. I also liked the message embedded in the text as
well. It is a good idea for young children to not wander too far
away from their parents. Being curious is fine, but there are dangers
to avoid too.
