Part
of the Ready-to-Read series, this level one book is a huge
disappointment. If the goal is to launch a child into the
wonderful world of words and reading why not have a story
that uses words that the youngster will encounter on a regular
basis and be able to use in the future?
There are very few useful words here and no real semblance
of a simple story. Izzy the ice cream truck wants to get dizzy.
So? Why? What’s the point? Watching the truck zoom around
and get fizzy in a car wash doesn’t seem to really make
much sense.
Since there is little opportunity here to get into a fun and
entertaining read, I’d look for a different title in
the Trucktown series or perhaps visit Daniel
Tiger’s Neighborhood
and read Thank You Day.
