This
is a lovely picture book that captures a dog's day at the
beach. There are plenty of action pictures of the animal running,
swimming, and retrieving a red ball.
What
there isn't is much text or a narrative. The author incorporates
single action words like "fetch," "shake,"
and "dive" into each two page spread and that's
it.
After
paging through this book with your toddler a number of times,
he or she may be able to recognize these words, but beyond
that basic reading skills won't be enhanced in any way.
On the
other hand, it might be fun to have your youngster make up
a story to go with the illustrations. That would not only
be fun but stress the importance of one's imagination.
If a
minimalist text isn't an issue, then you'll find this picture
book capturing a dog's day at the beach a nice addition to
your home library. On the other hand, if you are looking for
an interesting storyline, you might want to find another book!
