This
Level Two reader will appeal to children who are fascinated
by dragons and this series of books. It is time for Viking
Chief Stoick to get his own dragon. He really wants his son's
dragon, but Hiccup doesn't want to give up Toothless.
After checking out what is available at the Dragon Training
Academy, Chief Stoick isn't sure he sees a dragon that fits
his needs. Then he encounters Thunderdrum and the Viking chief
realizes he has found the perfect match. It will take a while
for the two to bond but when they do they'll be a formidable
team.
An interesting storyline with longer sentences makes this
a good reader for children whose reading skills are advancing.
It will pull reluctant readers into the story too. The only
downside is that some of the illustrations have very dark
backgrounds and the characters get lost and are very hard
to see clearly.
