This ready-to-read, level one picture book has the Trucktown crew wondering what is inside the nicely wrapped gift box someone left on Kat's doorstep. Gabby thinks the box contains a new horn while Rosie is convinced it must be a new, green wrecking ball.

Other Trucktown characters believe the mystery gift is a set of new tires, lights or even a siren. Less practical suggestions range from a jewel, a teddy bear or perhaps some flowers.

Then everyone gathers around Kat and they all chant, 'Open it, open it, open it now!' But guess what? Kat decides not to because she loves all the mystery surrounding the box.

For a beginning reader this short story is easy enough so that the child should be able to master the narrative rather quickly. There's rather an unappealing ink smell that accompanies the book when you flip the pages. but anyone who is a Trucktown fan will probably be willing to overlook that small production quirk.
