Baby Bear and his parents are off to visit his grandparents. Because it gets rather late, they decide to sleep over. So Baby Bear, along with his mom and dad, share the foldout bed in the living room.

Just after he goes to bed, Baby Bear hears Grandpa in the basement adding wood to the furnace. He does down to watch and sees fire inside the furnace. That’s all well and good until Little Bear goes back to bed and has a strange dream.

The little fellow dreams that a fire breathing dragon comes up out of the basement and says he is hungry. Little Bear offers the dragon milk and cookies, and the dragon gobbles everything up.

When he awakens crying, Baby Bear gets the entire family up, explains the problem and then everyone shares a night snack of milk and cookies. (Obviously the dragon didn’t eat them all up and drink all the milk!)

All ends well for Little Bear in this latest adventure. Children love this series and the pictures of this loveable character. Add this book to the list for read aloud sessions or for the child who is just beginning to master reading alone.

NOTE: Even if your child can read, don’t give up those special reading sessions. Have the youngster sit with you and read to you now…you can still enjoy sharing the moment and this underscores how important you believe reading is.
