Believing in Narnia:
A Kid's Guide to Unlocking the Secret Symbols of Faith in C.S. Lewis' The Chronicles of Narnia
by Natalie Nichols Gillespie
Believing in Narnia: A Kid's Guide to Unlocking the Secret Symbols of Faith in C.S. Lewis' The Chronicles of
Narnia explores the seven beloved novels that make up the Narnia series, namely: The Lion the Witch and
the Wardrobe, Prince Caspian, The Voyage of the Dawn Treader, The Silver Chair,
The Horse and His Boy, The Magician's Nephew, and The Last Battle—each one of which
offers the reader a memorable reading experience they will forever cherish.
C.S. Lewis is a name that I remember from my early childhood years. I remember reading each one of these books and
felt they radiated their own special blend of magic. I feel that his books are some of my fondest childhood memories.
When I grew to be an adult, I was pleased that movie producers had turned my beloved C.S. Lewis books into blockbuster
movies.
Through Natalie Gillespie’s Believing in Narnia: A Kid's Guide to Unlocking the Secret Symbols of Faith in C.S.
Lewis' The Chronicles of Narnia, I now am able to revisit Narnia in search of the symbols that help connect the
series to the Christian faith. I felt so connected to this book because it allowed me to revisit some of my favorite
childhood books and to look at them with new eyes to discover the hidden Christian symbols that I never knew existed.
This book would make an excellent reference tool for Sunday school teachers and as a way to introduce C.S. Lewis’
wonderful work. By using it as a guidebook, you will help strengthen the Christian faith by relating it to a series
that is assured to be around for future generations to enjoy. Very highly recommended. |
