Written and illustrated by Rebecca Emberley Bilingual books are huge today and this bright board book is a great addition to any bilingual collection. Each page features a category of things - my toys, my food, my colors, my room, etc - with bright, cut-paper illustrations of each object along with the name of the object in both English and Spanish. The animals were especially charming, from the sweet-faced el conejo (rabbit) to the vibrant la lagartija (lizard). The book doesn't try to cover every object that could possibly fall into each category and I believe the book benefits from that. The collection of words seem "do-able" for a young child - a challenge that can be met. I could easily see this study book appearing in classroom and library collections across the country, to the delight of young children everywhere. |
