A young girl
shares her observations about the mallards that live in a river
near her home in this engaging, informative picture book. The story's
narrator hears ducks in the morning when she gets up and, since
she lives so close to the birds, she has learned a lot about them.
Interspersed
with the girl's commentary about her feathered neighbors are many
fun facts about ducks. For example, you'll learn that male ducks
quack quietly but females are very loud. Also, the mallard female's
colors are streaky brown and tan so that she can hide from danger
when nesting.
Young readers
will learn all about how ducks behave, and where they like to nest
and sleep, as well as what they like to eat in this nicely illustrated
picture book that is certain to make a big splash with your readers. |
