Visit the opposite ends of the Earth (the Arctic and Antarctic) and meet two of the creatures who call these frigid areas home. The polar bear and penguin could not be more different but, in fact, there are a few similarities they share which you’ll learn about as you read this “compare and contrast” paperback.

Along with brilliant color photos that highlight these polar animals and their homes, the other strength of this book are the activity pages the author includes at the end. There’s information here about the seasons, other polar mammals, a map matching penguins to different places where they live and a Polar Bear True and False Test.

If you are looking for a good general introduction to polar bears, penguins and their habitats, this would be an excellent purchase. While young children will probably like this book, older youngsters might be disappointed because they would prefer greater depth and more detail.
