Heidi Fielder offers children ages 8 through 12 a Know-Nonsense Guide to Grammar that both teaches and entertains. In the guide, Fielder’s goal is to go over key concepts introduced in elementary school and teach young students how write a proper sentence.

The Guide is set up in three sections: Parts of Speech, Grammar, and Literary Devices. As students flip the pages through the first section: Parts of Speech (noun, adjective, verb, etc), they’ll be sufficiently entertained. Grammar (sequence of adjectives, capitalization, etc) adds new characters and even more humorous scenes. And the best is held for last -- Literary Devices (Pun, Idiom, Metaphor, etc) will bring their imaginations to life.

The information is straightforward and easy to comprehend. It’s definitely a great reference tool for your child to fall back on. The humorous, colorful illustrations will certainly keep the pages turning. Parents will enjoy this unique teaching guide, as well.

The illustrations by Brendan Kearney are entertaining and unforgettable. The Verb section with the Pie Eating contest garnered a good laugh.
