Laura Townsley, writer at the upscale magazine Country, gets a chance to prove herself as a writer when she's given the assignment to do a feature story on Stafford Hall. Nestled in the Virginia countryside, Stafford Hall has a long history dating back to the civil war and beyond.

Laura sets off for an in depth interview with a decedent of the original owners during a freak April ice storm. As she leaves her car on arriving, she's knocked unconscious by a falling tree branch. Austin Hamilton, current owner of Stafford Hall, carries her inside. One look into her eyes, and although they're never met, he feels as if he's looked into Laura's gaze before. As for Laura, she finds herself living the memories of a slave called
Tilda, who shared an eternal but forbidden love with James Hamilton over a hundred earlier. Will Laura and Austin find a love as enduring and everlasting as Tilda's and James?

Plantation is a tender story about the timeless of love and how true lovers find each other through the decades. Ms. Smith-Brown has a pleasing writing style, which while rich with description, doesn't slow the story down or tire the reader with too much detail. Her style made Plantation an easy and enjoyable read.
