A Personal Matter
By Karyn Langhorne
In
A Personal Matter readers are introduced to Alayna Jackson,
an African-American paralegal who has a dream of becoming a lawyer
and taking care of her younger sister. Unfortunately, the law firm
that she works for has paired her up with a pretentious and brilliant
Caucasian lawyer nicknamed Ice Man. Alayna's younger sister, who
is about to graduate from high school, feels that she is old enough
and responsible enough for herself and starts rebelling against
her older sister. Can Alayna deal with the pressures coming at her
from work and at home?
A
Personal Matter is one of the best debut fiction novels that
this reader has read and reviewed. Ms. Langhorne has the ability
to get the reader heavily involved with her characters and does
not fail on entertaining the reader throughout the entire novel.
Readers can sympathize with Alayna's struggles and routes for her
throughout the book. A Personal Matter is a good mix of general
fiction and romance. The romance that develops within the story
adds to the enjoyment of reading the book.
This
reader looks forward to future Karyn Langhorne novels and strongly
encourages readers to pick up this enjoyable read.
