Twenty years ago, literature professor Joseph Licht fell in love with another man, leaving
his wife, his five sons, and religion behind. He left his entire life behind when he fell in
love with Rabbi Yoel Rosenzweig. Even after Rabbi Yoel Rosenzweig committed suicide, Joseph
does not return to his wife and sons, but instead sits adrift on a journey to find himself.
Now, twenty years later, as Joseph approaches his fiftieth birthday, he invites his five sons
to his beachfront apartment high above Tel Aviv. On this very Sabbath, it will be the first
time in nearly two decades Joseph has spent time with his sons. As Joseph's life unfolds, we
get an inside glimpse of the choices Joseph made and why and what they ultimately cost him. But
now the question is, can Joseph reconcile with his five sons after so much time as passed.
Light Fell is a well-written, credible, and thought-provoking book.
