Squirrel Seeks Chipmunk
A Modern Bestiary

By David Sedaris
Read by David Sedaris, Dylan Baker, Elaine Stritch and Sian Phillips

David Sedaris continues his humorous bestiary that he started in David Sedaris: Live for Your Listening Pleasure in his new book Squirrel Seeks Chipmunk. The author even repeats one of his most humorous selections “Cat and Baboon.”

These little stories reminds one of Aesop and his fables with one noticeable exception: these essays have an attitude. While all the stories deal with animals, the reader soon begins to replace the animals with people who fit the animal characters to a t and the reader soon finds himself trying to match the animal characters up with acquaintances with the same attributes.

Each of the readers did an excellent job, but this reader enjoyed the selections read by Sedaris himself. His distinctive voice adds greatly to the situations that occur in the stories. This collection of essays is delightful but targeted for adults only.

The book is available in print and includes illustrations. This is one of those books that comes across better in the audio version.
