I enjoyed this book because
it spoke to me. I think it will speak to a lot of people. Keats
Sedlak is a normal woman in a dysfunctional family. Her parents
are getting divorced just as she is in the midst of a long term
relationship with Tom, her boyfriend. She is constantly being called
in to deal with her parents’ eccentricities—everything
from trouble with her father’s assistant, to her mother’s
dating life. Did I mention her brother? He lives upstairs in his
room and stares at his computer screen all day. But now he has to
move out, along with their father, because their mother wants her
freedom. Keats is the responsible one in the family and is always
having to help out. Her sister, who she envies, is detached.
Keats likes her boyfriend’s family because they are “normal”.
Now she has to reevaluate her life and come to terms with what she
wants.
This is a good read. Not too light and not too heavy. You want
to turn the pages and find out where it’s going to take you.
