Gracie Lynne Calloway was left, presumably by her mother, on the doorstep of a home in the small town of Shady Grove, Alabama. She grew from a tomboy with a killer pitching arm to a caring young woman, surrounded by a loving family.

On her 25th birthday Sam Fontana, a Yankee private investigator, shows up with the news that Gracie was actually kidnapped from a wealthy Connecticut family. She stands to inherit millions. Gracie wants no part of the money and wants answers to the events surrounding this kidnapping. She doesn't want to change her life and family. The money will only complicate her life, which it does, when greedy relatives descend on the town wanting their share of the money. Her life is further complicated when she finds herself attracted to this Yankee, Sam.

This is a charming story about a young woman who remains true to her upbringing. She is loyal to her family and friends in spite of pressures brought about by discovering a new identity. The characters are well developed. They are believable and likable, The atmosphere of a small town is faithfully portrayed.

This is a pleasant and enjoyable book.
