Kia DuPree
has done it again. I mean literally with her novel, Silenced.
I loved her previous novel, Damaged.
Silenced is much deeper and a page-turner. I can relate
to Nicola, who wants better things for her daughter, Tinka Hampton,
but in the process she puts a lot of pressure on Tinka, and this
leads to destruction of the worse kind, of course.
Nicola has
lost her job and she’s determined to keep her family out of
poverty. I am sure we can relate to this fact. Can Nicole save Tinka
from destruction? This is a very powerful novel of choices and pressures.
I loved this novel, and it definitely kept my heart palpating all
over the place, but in a good sense, of course. A novel about the
burdens that mothers can place on their daughters, and the dangerous
consequences of these burdens. A must read, so take a ride with
me and Kia Dupree as she enters the world of drug dealers and family
issues. Five stars, without a doubt.
