When I first started reading “Dear Daughter,” I thought it was already boring. It wasn't until chapter 3 that I really started liking the main character “Janie” and getting into the story. I really liked how “Janie” was a smart-ass and didn't take crap from people. There were times when I was reading that I would actually laugh out loud and my husband would look at me strange. I really got interested in the plot of the story and I couldn't wait to find out if and when “Janie” would find out the mystery of what was happening. I kept thinking I knew what was going to happen, but I found out I was wrong until the very end. Although “Janie” was a smart-ass and acted like things didn't get to her I could feel the pain and sadness she was hiding inside. I felt like if she could only trust at least one person then she wouldn't be so standoffish. I think the different personalities of the characters in “Dear Daughter” really worked well together. With “Janie” she was a “poor little rich girl” who ended serving time and prison, but she was still a smart-ass, “Noah” was more of a follower and did everything “Janie” said to do, and “Janie’s” friends seemed to be followers as well but they acted like the deserved everything in sight.

I think that Elizabeth Little did a wonderful job writing this book. She was very descriptive and I love the way she made the reader keep guessing until the very end. I think her novels will always be able to leave the reader wanting more and to keep guessing what will happen next; especially if she keeps writing the way she did with this book. I really liked the way this book didn't just have chapters, it had little sections as well it had sections where there were newspaper articles and other little sections described people and/or places. I love that Ms. Little put the book together differently than most books are.
