The
Pink Suit
piqued my interest as it does anyone who lived through the
assassination of John F. Kennedy and remembers the famous
pink suit that his wife Jackie was wearing that fateful day
in Dallas, Texas. What many of us remember is the “blood
stained” Pink Suit. And, we may have wondered what ever
happened to that suit.
This
audio book answers that question and many more interesting
anecdotes and artifacts pertaining to its origin through this
re-inventive work by Kelby. It takes the reader on an expedition
of sorts into the birth of the suit through Kate, the seamstress.
While this historic nuance eventually transforms into a romantic
novelette, it does still carry a sense of a “real thread”
throughout. Kate is the seamstress for courtier Chez Ninon.
She works long hard hours creating designs for the rich and
famous, one of great and tragic interest, Jackie Kennedy.
As the story weaves in and out of reality into fiction, it
is sometimes difficult to tell one from the other.
I enjoyed
the novel but at times got lost in the fictional connection.
It isn’t for history buffs. It’s a short two CD
set for a quick bedtime story.
