The Lenore women of the Blue Ridge Mountains create and sell a perfume like no other. You see, their ingredients stem from magic, and it is a magic that only responds to them, and no one else. The magical formula sells for millions of dollars, and works to make women powerful successful stars in whatever field they choose—from movies to politics and everything in between.

There is a crossroad, in which it must be decided who will take over the enterprise as the matriarch faces a crisis of aging. One of her daughters, Mya, feels that the business belongs to her. After all, she has remained by her mother’s side and has the ability to read scents and understand their power. Mya’s sister, Lucia, wants no part of the business, but she may not have any choice as her own life has fallen in on her and she has no place else to be but back at home amongst the blue dragonflies, her mother, her sister, the flowers, and her long lost love.

This is truly a magical book, and you must be willing to suspend your disbelief to fall under its spell. I did so and enjoyed every page, every word. Creech has done an admirable job of plotting, and pacing, and I found myself reading long past the time I had allotted for a sit-and-read time.

Magic, romance, family ties, family issues, blackmail and more make this a real page-turner.

If you like Sarah Addison Allen’s books, you will enjoy Season of the Dragonflies. It’s a great beach read, or a wonderful long-rainy-afternoon-wit-a-book read, and is one that could be shared with your mother, your sister, your best friend, or you may just find it so special that you want to keep its magic all for yourself. Five Fast Flying Dragonflies and a Tip of the Magic Wand to author Sarah Creech!
