Imagine that you are on top of the
world in your career. A hot shot lawyer, THE star athlete, or
the go to actor that everyone is clamoring for. And then a mistake
turns your life 180 degrees. How will you be able to adjust
to your new self? How will you cope with learning how you were
before the accident? This is what Cameron Rock, a Bradley Cooper
type of actor-top of his game, is faced with following a horrible,
near fatal accident. Can he accept who he was? Who he is now?
Second Chance is a great example of characterization
at its best. Readers will be able to hate Cameron's character
and, in a few pages, feel bad for him and what he has to endure.
Carner does an amazing job of developing Cameron's character,
both the good and the bad, and also the minor characters that
have to deal with Cameron, his accident and the aftermath.
The plot is simple and solid. The environment is simple. The
focus is on characterization.
Second Chance is a solid well written novel and
would be enjoyable for anyone who enjoys general literature.
Carner continues to impress with his ability to develop interesting
characters and write in different genres. |
