Three years after her husband tragically dies,
Cara Rutledge leaves Tennessee with her adopted daughter,
Hope, and returns home to her beach house on the Isle of Palms,
a place where three generations of Rutledge women have found
peace and tranquility. Cara is seeking a fresh start and seeks
to work from home to support herself and Hope, but soon realizes
that having a little one underfoot requires her constant attention.
Linnea returns home from college, only to feel closed in by
her parent’s expectations for her future. She’s
having problems finding a job during the summer and, when
she learns that her Aunt Cara needs a nanny, Linnea hurriedly
offers to fill the position. Linnea has always loved Cara’s
beach house, Primrose Cottage. Sharing it with Cara and Hope,
and reuniting with the turtle ladies, is the inspiration Linnea
needs to realize her true vocation: being a public educator
in her chosen field of environmental science.
Cara and Linnea share one thing in common: the courage to
start anew. They become no longer aunt and niece, but two
women who develop new bonds, learn to open their hearts to
love and bravely face new commitments. Naturally, their stories
and a touch of romance made this novel worth turning every
page.
Mary Alice Monroe has long been one of my favorite authors
and this new release confirms why I love her books. As I said
before, the depth of feeling that Ms. Monroe reveals in her
writing confirms her love of nature and humankind. Her books
are all exquisite reads, whether you’re at the beach
or on your couch at home, and ones I highly recommend. Emotionally
rich, touching and heartfelt, Beach House Reunion
is magical and so much more.
