This is a truly heartfelt book about how a mother and her family has coped with her daughter's drug addiction and, later, her death. Ms. Wattles speaks from the heart of what her daughter, Mandy's, drug addiction and death has done to herself and family. She talks about how Mandy told her family about the drug addiction, her recovery, and her relapse. She includes a touching chapter that was influenced by Mandy's sister, Kelsey.

This book is written extremely well. It seems like it is a fiction story instead of one's true heartbreak. Ms. Wattles does a great job in letting the reader know what the family had gone through and the fluctuation of feelings that she herself had felt throughout this hardship. She emphasizes that drug addiction could happen to anyone, no matter what the family life was like.

For a family that has experienced drug addiction, this book is a must. Counselors that work with drug addicted teens and their families should also pick up this book so they can see what families go through.
