Chasing the Devil
My
Twenty-Year Quest to Capture the Green River Killer
By Sheriff David
Reichert
Read by Dennis Boutsikaris
Sheriff
David Reichert gives an intense account of the Green River killer
case – how it began, the chase, the arrest and the conclusion.
Reichert also gives readers his career highlights -- his rise in
the department. Reichert first explains that he found strength in
his faith, and then he begins with his entrance into law enforcement.
Reichert
reminds readers that this case took place before computers and DNA
testing. All records were on paper and cross referencing on index
cards. The case lasted for years and the victims were many. The
Sheriff attempts to be fair with everyone involved, including those
who were quick to judge and sound off. He also tells how the case
and relatives were treated during the reign of outrageous daytime
talk TV (Sally Jessie Raphael Show). Reichert shares graphic details
concerning the victims and the various grave sites. Listening to
the murder’s profile being discussed is absolutely bone chilling.
Actor
Dennis Bousikaris reads the audio book version. At first listen,
one can get lost in the suspense of it -- like a fiction thriller.
As the case moves forward, one is reminded of the reality of this
horrifically true story and the rat-like man (Ridgeway) who negatively
affected so many lives. Also on the audio version is an actually
interview with Ted Bundy about the Green River case. It’s
an audio book that will haunt you.
