Bernard Goldberg is the author of Arrogance:
Rescuing America from the Media Elite. It's a great argument with
a positive outlook to a cure. I still don't agree there is a cure
because I live in mainstream America and consider the media bias coming
from the East and West coast to be unsalvageable.
Anyway, 100 People Who are Screwing Up America had me curious as to whom Goldberg
had selected, where they came on the list, and why they were chosen. I expected a list of
liberals and mouthy celebrities. Not at all. There's a variety of politicians, spokesmen,
celebrities, as well as those we common folks aren't aware of, for whatever reasons. And
then there's Moore. I mean, Michael Moore is a given. He's loud, obnoxious and ready to
take a walk to the mailbox out of context, if it pays.
Goldberg's humor and colorful outlook on life helps to lighten a frustrating subject,
a subject which seems to be out of the hands of the Mainstream America. In listening to
it, I found the shallow, Hollywood wife-turned-activist to be the dumbest on the list.
Her kids endure humiliation as she harasses and threatens SUV drivers. Mind you, instead
of flying commercial with everyone else she prefers a private jet. Goldberg compares the
cost and environmental damage of the SUV and the Jet. Guess who loses? Yep, the activist
gone wild. And they wonder why we ignore them.
The audio version is read by Goldberg. He successfully shows his humorous side and
relays his personal frustrations in the screwing up of America. Everyone needs to hear
the highlights on this book. Some are simple and some will astound you. Pass it on.
