Airbus A380:
Super Jumbo on World Tour
by David Maxwell
From Toulouse to Abu Dhabi to Tokyo, aviation photojournalist David Maxwell follows the revolutionary Airbus
A380 on its world tour. Clicking away, Maxwell records the Super Jumbo's visit to international air shows, its
test flights, and first visits to a number of world airports from Singapore and Sydney to New York and Frankfurt,
to make sure the ground facilities can handle the huge plane.
As crowds flock to see the double deck aircraft that can carry up to 800 passengers, Maxwell captures the
scenes on the ground as well as in the air. The breathtaking color photos also take the viewer behind the scenes
to show the A380's state-of-the-art design and how its sheer size dwarfs everything around it.
Although most of us probably will not have the opportunity to go aloft in this innovative jet that has taken
years to design, construct and test, viewing it from the perspective of Maxwell's camera's eye at least will
allow us the vicarious pleasure of taking flight on the A380.
Aviation buffs will find the price of this book a paltry sum to pay for a collection of A380 photos taken by
a world class photographer. |
