Your Government Failed You:
Breaking the Cycle of National Security Disasters
by Richard A. Clarke
Richard A Clarke has presented a clear, detailed account of the failures of the present administration to adequately
administer the national security. He cites examples of the ignorance, the inadequacies, the ineptitudes of those in
command of foreign policy, homeland security, and military matters. He cites that Homeland Security, which is laced
with private contractors and political appointees, has presented the most obvious failure of national government in
generations. There are problems with those outside government getting into vital databases. He believes the Iraq
War was a major failure in leadership. The military failed to stand up to poor decision making on the part of the
Executive Branch. Also there was the failure to pursue Khadid after the 9/11 tragedy.
He recommends ending the privatization of government functions, which are primarily staffed by political hacks.
He reviews key area of government, their problems and improvement.
This is a thought provoking book. Clarke comes with the credentials of a distinguished career in the Pentagon,
the White House, Intelligence, and the State Department. He is a warning to the nation to become aware of the
inadequacies of its leadership and speedily correct the problem. |
