The Black Hand
The Bloody Rise and Redemption of "Boxer" Enriquez, a Mexican Mob Killer

by Chris Blatchford

The Black Hand takes an in-depth look at the life of Rene Enriquez (aka Boxer) and his part in the Mexican Mafia. Boxer spent most of his adult life in prison, and while in prison he was recruited by La Eme, the Mexican Mafia. The Mexican Mafia is known to be the most dangerous gang in North American history. Much more dangerous than the Crips and Bloods. As Rene Enriquez got older and looked at the criminal life surrounding him, he realized that gang life wasn’t all it was cracked up to be.

It is apparent that Chris Blatchford did extensive research and has met with Rene Enriquez at length about the Mexican Mafia and his role in it. Rene Enriquez’s thoughts and feelings are respectfully displayed throughout The Black Hand.

The Black Hand is a little jumbled with regards to what happened when and with whom. Some people who are presented in one part are never heard from again, and that leaves it a little confusing, too.

Readers who enjoy true crime or want to know more about gangs will appreciate The Black Hand and the insight it provides.
