No Teachers Left Behind

by HBF Teacher

Vilyon Middle School, Taylor County, Georgia is the background for HBF (Hopeful But Frustrated) Teacher's look at the education system.  With the use of emails, poetry and concise narrative we catch glimpses of the problems facing teachers today.  There is administrative indifference and incompetence, disregard for teachers' needs and problems.   There is student apathy and disrespect.  There is parent indifference and ignorance.   There are teachers frustrated by lack of support by the administration. Teachers who are burdened with added tasks of counseling and discipline which leave them little time for teaching, which is their priority.  What the solution might be for these problems has yet to be determined but a solution must be found which allows dedicated people to do what they want most—TEACH!

Mine is a family of teachers. My husband retired after 35 years; our son retired after 30 years; our granddaughter is still teaching in middle school. Unfortunately, we all saw incidents that mirrored our own classroom experiences in this book.
