True Cow Tales
Literary Sketches and Stories by Farmers, Ranchers and Dairy Princesses
by C. R. Lindemer
True Cow Tales: Literary Sketches and Stories by Farmers, Ranchers and Dairy Princesses
features down-home, country tales about the favorite, or at least the most memorable, cows of each
of the authors of these stories. Read it straight through or browse the stories; they’re great for
reading aloud at family time, and make exciting conversation starters. I really enjoyed reading
about Hoogey, Meadowlark, Sugar, and Ferdy. Their personalities made them favorites.
I was on a cruise ship last summer where I admired the beautiful butter sculptures and wondered
where did they get such an idea? So I really enjoyed reading Linda Christensen's story. Linda is
known as the Lady Who Does the Butterheads. She has done butterhead sculptures for the Minnesota
State Fair since 1972. She uses a live model, and they must sit in a cooler while she sculpts.
She does one each day of the fair.
This little book has stories and poetry by farmers, 4-H kids, and the Dairy Princesses that
will take you right to the heart of country living at its best. If you had the privilege of
growing up on a farm, this will bring it all home for you. If not, here is a glimpse of a
different kind of living. This book would make a wonderful gift for your favorite "old timer,"
or wanna-be cowboy. |
