David Sedaris: Live for Your Listening Pleasure

by David Sedaris
Read by David Sedaris

Listening to David Sedaris read from his works (in this case Live for Your Listening Pleasure) in his own distinctive voice is a treat. Sedaris has chosen four selections from his tours and has come up with a winner. His wry humor (along with his unique voice) make for good listening.

With only four selections that are fairly short the CD is a little overpriced, but on the positive side, the material is of such nature that the CD can be listened to many times. As he does his routine, he mentions his partner, and one gets a sense of a relationship that is well balanced and authentic.

All four selections are delightful, but the selection in which he tells his stories (or as he refers to them fables) is the most entertaining. First of all, they simply are funny, and then the subject matter is so far from what one would think of as humorous material that the stories hold the listener's attention to the very end. This is a good CD to add to your humor collection.
