Rick Perry, Governor of Texas, writes this book out of concern that the Federal Government is taking many of our constitutional rights away from us, with the help of the U.S. Supreme Court. The Nine Justices there are appointed by the President and hold the position for life. They answer to no one, not even when they break constitutional laws by making laws and setting policies. I do agree that this should be addressed. Every appointee should have to answer to those who are supposed to hold the ultimate power – the people.

Slowly but surely, the Supreme Court has helped the Federal Government usurp many rights that once belonged to the states. Governor Perry insists that these rights need to be restored to the individual states. Some should definitely belong to the states, however I also feel that some responsibilities should belong to the states as well.

Governor Perry also claims part of the fault lies with President Franklin Roosevelt and his New Deal. He doesn’t mention that Social Security was the only program that Roosevelt wanted to be permanent; Roosevelte never intended the income tax to continue indefinitely. Unfortunately, Roosevelt didn’t survive long enough to carry out his intentions. The governor also doesn’t mention that it was the Republicans who put the policies into place that created our current economic disaster, but they did.

Mostly, “Fed Up!” is a rant against the Democrats by a Republican. He should be ranting against political parties in general. I think that when President George Washington told the people to avoid political parties, he envisioned the mess we have today. Each group of crooks picks someone to run for president, and the wealthy pick which one they will support. The people pick the lesser evil and the rich rule, just as they did in England. Listen to this book and you’ll be fed up too!
