Daniel C. Goldie and Gordon Murray have joined forces to finally
take some of the mystery out of investing. There are five questions
you must first ask yourself, starting with: should I do it all myself
or have a professional do it? They answer that question and explain
that stock brokers are working for the firm that employs them, not
for you. The “fee only” advisor works for his clients,
not a firm. Choose the best one for yourself.
The second question is how much to invest where, and in stocks,
bonds or cash. Once that question is answered, the third question
arises: which specific classes in these categories do I need in
my portfolio, and how do I choose? There are common-sense ways to
decide.
The fourth question is to decide on taking an active or passive
management approach for your portfolio. The answer to that depends
on your philosophy of investing and how you want your portfolio
to perform. The last question is when to buy and when to sell. The
answer may unsettle you.
This book is well written without using terms that leave you more
confused than you were when you started. It is refreshing to see
such a complicated subject explained in plain American English.
I got a lot out of this book and came away with a better understanding
of investing in stocks than I ever had before; it took away more
of my confusion than anything I’ve ever read.
The other beauty of this audio book is that it takes less than two
hours of your time from beginning to end. So, if you’re ready
to take charge of your financial future, listen to The Investment
Answer. It will give you an insight into ways to make your
financial future comfortable.
