“Peace and Plenty” is a self help book intended to make women more aware of what they need to do to make themselves comfortable with the subject of money. Most women are very nervous about money. They don’t want to think about it, let alone discuss it. I’m like that. I spent too many years trying to figure out how to pay the bills my sister ran up without having enough money. When I thought about those bills, there was no solution. After a while, I had to stop thinking about it or lose my health, physical and mental.

There are some things women can do to protect themselves against that kind of situation. First, be financially independent. Keep a bank account that has only your name on it. Don’t let anyone know you have it, let alone how much is in it. That way, you have a nest egg for emergencies. What kind of emergencies, you ask? Suppose you get married and the jerk rips you off for everything you have? He can’t get your money in your private account if his name isn’t on it.

Sometimes it’s all that stands between you and the life of a bag lady living on the streets.

Then, you can protect yourself with a prenuptial agreement. Don’t plan on burning it after ten years, either. It may take the gold digger longer than that to shift what you can’t catch him with offshore.

You will find a lot of good advice in this book, but while I agree that having a financial hedge is an excellent idea, I don’t agree that you should love your money or treat it like it’s your best friend. You listen to “Peace and Plenty” for yourself and let this well-written book lead you to financial peace.
