This is the story of three men who were caught up in the racism,
corruption and crime of the turbulent decade of the 1960s, and the
part they each played in this.
The book focuses on several events, including Malcolm X's assassination,
the rise and fall of the Black Panthers, and a trial that would
expose ten years of corruption within the Police Department
Bill Phillips is a corrupt, second generation New York City Police
Officer. Dhoruba Bin Wahad is a gangbanger and the founder of the
Black Panthers. George Whitmore is a young man who is forced to
confess to several sensational murders.
This is a powerful, historical account of one of New York City’s
darkest decades. The author has drawn on interviews from former
police and prosecutors, activists, hustlers and journalists to paint
a picture of the events and the lingering effects of that decade's
injustices. It is well written with a cast of driven, as well as
corrupt, characters.
