I
worked in parapsychology in Washington, DC, during the early
70s when I first discovered Dr. Hans Holzer’s work on
ghosts, psychic healing, witchcraft and a myriad of other
topics that fall into the category of parapsychology. Naturally,
I had a natural interest in the field and have several psychics,
all of whom were aware of Hans Holzer. It’s an understatement
to say that Hans Holzer is a prolific writer, but then, the
topics he discusses are endless. My favorite just happens
to be hauntings.
Dr. Holzer explains that ghosts aren’t limited to houses.
Crossroads have long been associated with hauntings, as well
as forests, ships, train tracks and even planes (recall the
ghost of Flight 401). Eerie and unbelievable as it might seem
to some, ghostly lights and strange apparitions can appear
with no likely natural explanation. What’s left is the
supernatural, and that’s what Dr. Holzer discusses in
his latest release, Haunted Places.
I enjoyed reading about Dr. Holzer’s investigations.
He approaches with a more scientific attitude and is often
accompanied by his wife, Catherine, and psychic Sybil Leek.
There’s the Maco Light that floats above a railroad
track in Wilmington, NC, most likely the headless ghost of
railroad conductor Joe Baldwin. Then there’s a woman
on a train traveling from Vienna to
Zurich, Switzerland,; or the ghostly visitor in a garden in
Lynwood, California,; or ghostly monks that haunt a valley.
Then there’s the Viking landing in New England, a haunted
organ in Connecticut, and even a haunted lady on television.
I enjoyed reading these ghostly events, told in short story
style, from a professional researcher’s point of view.
Yes, Hans Holzer believes in the psychic realm, and if you’re
a skeptic, once you’re done with this book, you may
just believe it in too.
