This
is an American book by an American author telling the story
of the American dream realized. It is about as patriotic as
they come. Who hasn’t heard of Bassett furniture? You
are probably sitting on a Bassett as you read this. It is
easy to see why Bassett furniture is one of the oldest, longest
lasting American manufacturing companies in the west. Just
listening to him describe his enterprise makes you want to
put your hand over your heart, stand at attention, and sing
the “Star Spangled Banner.”
Allan
Robertson is a good narrator for the audio, but I just wish,
Mr. Bassett, that you had told the story yourself. Not taking
anything away from the narration, he does a fine job of retelling
his story and enlightening any would be entrepreneurs. He
speaks his language.
The Basset furniture story is fascinating. Bassett is one
of America’s makings. It’s easy to see why. His
12-point plan for success did not fail him and he shows the
reader how it can work today, individually and globally. Strong
leadership in the face of a crumbling economy is a recipe
for perseverance and success, believe it or not.
